Careful consideration
A week or so ago I was contemplating a fairly significant shift in how stories would be presented here — showing them one bit of text at a time, with a menu of landmarks to navigate backwards to. (You can see a working [in Firefox, not IE] demo — I posted it to the Google group as well but it hasn’t attracted any comment yet, which is always disheartening. Instead I have a mass of Tweebox bugs to contend with — which certainly deserve attention but aren’t superexciting.)
I like a lot of the ideas I came up with, but when I went back to play with what I already have on the site, I really do like the look and feel of it — for the most part. I like recalling the memory of actual pages, like this is some bizarre relative of Penny’s magic book (skip to 45 seconds in). — What an odd parallel to spring to mind.
Anyway I’m at a bit of an impasse now. Still considering how I could keep what I love and change what I don’t.
